The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that night work will take place on the westbound H-1 Freeway/Airport Viaduct to complete striping operations. This work is scheduled for the evening of Monday, March 17.

To carry out the task, crews will close three right lanes on the westbound H-1 Freeway/Airport Viaduct from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The striping work was initially planned for this weekend's continuous closure but could not be completed due to weather conditions. Recent rains washed away temporary striping, necessitating further work.

During this period, the westbound Lunalilo H-1 Freeway and Kamehameha Highway on-ramps leading to the Airport Viaduct will be closed. Motorists are advised to use detours via Nimitz Highway or access it through the Nimitz Highway on-ramp during these hours.

The completion date for this project has been revised from June 2025 to August 2025.

HDOT urges drivers to exercise caution, heed traffic control signs and barriers, and plan their commutes in advance. Special duty police officers will assist with safety procedures at the site.

All scheduled work is subject to weather conditions. Changes in weather may affect the final completion date of this project.
