The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced potential traffic delays due to lane closures at the intersection of Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) and Kapunakea Street in Lahaina. These closures are part of the sewer line installation and paving work for the Kaiāulu o Kūkuʻia Affordable Housing project.
Starting Monday, February 10, one northbound lane on Honoapiʻilani Highway will be closed around the clock until Friday, February 14. The closure begins at 8 p.m. and is expected to last until 5 p.m., though it may end earlier if progress allows. This continuous closure is necessary for crews to access a utility cover in the lane efficiently.
During this period, one northbound lane will remain open to traffic.
In addition, nightly closures affecting both southbound and northbound lanes will occur from Monday, February 17, through Friday, February 21. These closures will start at 8 p.m. each night and reopen by 5 a.m. the following day to facilitate paving and restriping work. Throughout these operations, one lane in each direction will remain accessible.
