The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced a full closure of the Likelike Highway off-ramp (Exit 9) from the Kāneʻohe-bound H-3 Freeway on Saturday, March 8. This closure is necessary for lighting repairs and will take place from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Motorists traveling during this time will be detoured via the Halekou Interchange to reach the Windward side. HDOT advises drivers to consider alternate routes such as Pali Highway and Likelike Highway.
In addition to this closure, there will be a right lane closure on the Kāneʻohe-bound H-3 Freeway between the Harano and Hospital Rock Tunnels from 2 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The purpose of this lane closure is for repairs to steel plate welds.
Special duty police officers will be present at both sites to assist with traffic control and ensure safety procedures are followed. Electronic message boards will inform motorists about these closures.
HDOT advises motorists to plan their travel accordingly, allowing extra time for their journeys and exercising caution in work areas.
