A death is currently under investigation following an incident at Lῑhu‘e Airport involving Airport Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs). The officers were called to the scene early on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in response to reports of a disruptive male in the ticket lobby of the main terminal. A struggle ensued on the road between the terminal and the public parking lot. The man involved was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has stated that they will provide further updates once the results of their investigation are available.
