The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced night lane closures on Kaʻahumanu Avenue for paving work related to the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project. The closures will affect both eastbound and westbound lanes between Kāne Street and Lono Avenue.
The scheduled work will occur from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., starting Wednesday, February 19, with the final closure ending at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21.
During the closure from Wednesday, February 19 to Thursday, February 20, two lanes in the westbound direction will remain open. The right turn pocket onto Kahului Beach Road will also be accessible. Eastbound drivers can detour via Kāne Street to Kamehameha Avenue and then onto Lono Avenue to rejoin Kaʻahumanu Avenue. Left turns from Kaʻahumanu Avenue onto Kahului Beach Road will still be allowed.
For the closure from Thursday, February 20 to Friday, February 21, two eastbound lanes on Kaʻahumanu Avenue will remain open between Kāne Street and Lono Avenue. Right turns from Kāne Street onto Kaʻahumanu Avenue are permitted, as well as left turns from Kahului Beach Road onto Kaʻahumanu Avenue in the eastbound direction.
Westbound drivers may detour via Lono Avenue to Kamehameha Avenue and use Kāne Street to connect back with Kaʻahumanu Avenue and Kahului Beach Road.
