The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index for November has shown a significant increase, climbing eight points to 101.7. This is the highest level recorded since June 2021. Nine out of the ten components in the index saw improvements, with none reporting a decline and one remaining unchanged.

“Hawaii helped kick off this national turnaround with passage of House Bill 2404,” stated Michael Iosua, NFIB's State Director in Hawaii. The bill, which was signed into law by Governor Josh Green in June, is viewed as a critical tax reduction measure that could support economic growth. Iosua expressed hope that the Legislature would continue building on the bill's success, using the Optimism Index's findings as a foundation for economic strengthening.

Commenting on the broader economic landscape, NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg noted the election results have ushered in a new phase of economic policy. This shift has led to increased optimism among small business owners, breaking nearly three years of high economic uncertainty. Dunkelberg highlighted the anticipation of favorable tax and regulation policies, along with inflation relief, which are driving small businesses to consider expansion.

The report outlined several key observations:

- Economic expectations among business owners improved notably, with the net percentage climbing 41 points from October to 36%. This marks the highest level since June 2020.

- A net percentage of 14% of small business owners now regard it as an opportune time for expansion, the best since June 2021.

- The net percentage of owners projecting higher real sales volumes rose by 18 points to 14%, reaching the highest point since February 2020.

The NFIB's Small Business Optimism Index remains a critical tool for gauging the health of small enterprises in the United States. It is widely used by policymakers and experts to understand the small business landscape.

NFIB, a longstanding advocate for small and independent businesses, continues to provide support and information to its members. More updates on these developments are available on their platforms.
