Water service was restored in the Makawao Avenue area of Upcountry Maui as of 5:30 p.m. on April 16, following emergency repairs to a mainline break.

The restoration affects homes and businesses along Makawao Avenue between Makani Road and Old Haleakala Highway, as well as nearby side streets. The County reported that repairs were completed ahead of schedule.

The incident had caused a disruption in water supply for residents and businesses in the affected region. Quick action by repair crews helped minimize the duration of the outage.

No additional background information about previous incidents or causes for the mainline break was provided by officials at this time.

Authorities have not announced any further steps but said that normal water service has resumed for all impacted customers.
