The County of Maui announced on May 5 that water service will be temporarily unavailable in the area from 1500 Olinda Road to Makawao Avenue in Upcountry Maui. The outage is expected to last for approximately three hours starting at 1 p.m. due to emergency repairs.
This planned disruption will affect around 50 residences and impact about 20 hydrants and standpipes, according to county officials. Residents in the affected area are advised to prepare for the temporary loss of water service and plan accordingly.
The repairs are being conducted as an emergency measure, which necessitated the short notice for residents and businesses within the specified region. The County said it is working to complete repairs as quickly as possible in order to restore normal water service.
Water outages can cause inconvenience for both households and emergency services relying on hydrants, highlighting the importance of timely maintenance work when issues arise.
Officials have not provided additional details regarding the nature of the emergency repairs but emphasized their commitment to minimizing disruption during this period.
