The County of Maui announced on April 20 that a water service outage is planned for the Puuiki area of East Maui on Wednesday, April 22, starting at 8 a.m. and expected to last about six hours.

The outage is necessary to allow crews to repair a mainline in the area. According to officials, approximately 60 residences and 12 standpipes will be affected by the interruption in water service.

Residents in the impacted area are advised to prepare for the temporary loss of water by storing enough water for their needs during this period. The County said that work crews will make every effort to complete repairs as quickly as possible and restore normal service.

Such maintenance work is essential to ensure reliable water delivery and address infrastructure issues before they lead to larger problems or unplanned outages. The County did not provide additional details regarding alternative arrangements or further impacts beyond those listed.

Officials encourage residents with questions or concerns about the scheduled outage to contact local authorities for more information.
