The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced an overnight closure of the Wailua Plantation bridge, also known as the Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Bridge. The closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Monday, June 23, to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24. During this period, traffic will be rerouted to the mauka Wailua Bridge with one lane available for northbound and another for southbound vehicles.

This closure is part of the ongoing Wailua Bridge Repair Project. The contractor will use this time to relocate equipment and prepare the work area for the next phase, which involves installing scour protection and reinforcing the structural base of the 424-foot-long bridge. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.

To inform roadway users about the upcoming closure, variable message boards will be placed along Kῡhiō Highway. For more information on scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures, visit https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/kauai/.
