The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that crews will conduct emergency rock and debris removal on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) early Thursday morning. The work is scheduled from 3:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on August 7.

According to HDOT, both lanes near the Papawai Scenic Lookout, around mile marker 8.5, may be closed in both directions for short intervals lasting between 10 to 15 minutes. These closures are necessary to allow rocks to fall safely and give crews time to clear the roadway.

HDOT is asking drivers to obey all traffic controls and exercise caution when traveling through the area where workers will be present.
