The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that repaving work on Taxiway L at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu will take place from February 23 to February 27, 2026. The construction will occur daily, with closures starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 2 a.m. the following day. The final closure is scheduled for 2 a.m. on Friday, February 27.

During these hours, most wide-body aircraft located at Terminal 1 and the Mauka Terminal will be moved to accommodate the paving project. This change may affect passengers flying with Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines on Airbus 330 or Boeing 787 aircraft, who should expect possible gate changes and allow extra time to move between terminals.

A Wiki Wiki shuttle service will be available for travelers needing transportation within the airport during this period. More information about intra-airport transportation can be found at https://airports.hawaii.gov/hnl/getting-to-from/ground-transportation/intra-airport-transportation/.

“HDOT appreciates the patience of the traveling public as we work to maintain and improve our transportation infrastructure,” said the department in its announcement.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation manages multiple airports serving both domestic and international carriers, as well as commercial harbors and an extensive highway system across all six major Hawaiian islands. The agency operates as part of the executive branch of the State of Hawaii government and oversees eleven commercial service airports, four general aviation airports, nine commercial harbors, and more than two thousand lane miles of highways throughout the state (official website). HDOT collaborates with federal agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration and local county departments to support safe and efficient travel (official website).

The department’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, accessible, and sustainable transportation system that supports mobility for people and goods while fostering economic growth and quality of life (official website).
