The Hawaii State Legislature is considering measures to increase the minimum wage amid concerns about the impact on small businesses. Senate Bill 2018 and House Bill 2510 propose raising the minimum wage incrementally to $18 an hour. Additionally, House Bill 2408 suggests annual increases tied to the Consumer Price Index for urban customers.

Senate Bill 2018 has progressed to the State House, while House Bills 2408 and 2510 are advancing through committee stages. This legislative action occurs as many local businesses face closures due to supply chain disruptions, inflation, and retail theft.

A call for public engagement urges citizens to voice their opinions to lawmakers regarding these bills.

"Share your concerns with lawmakers before it’s too late!" reads a statement encouraging action.
