The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on the westbound Nimitz Highway at Kalihi Stream Bridge for repaving work starting the week of Monday, December 8.

From Monday, December 8 through Wednesday, December 10, paving crews will work nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., keeping one westbound lane open while the other three lanes are resurfaced. On Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13, work hours will shift to 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to provide enough time for paving without affecting Zipperlane operations. During these times, one westbound lane will remain open through the construction area.

The department also noted that the Nimitz Highway on-ramp to the Airport Viaduct will continue its nightly closure as part of ongoing H-1 Airport Viaduct Improvements. This closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Special duty police officers will be present to manage traffic and ensure safety during construction activities. Electronic message boards will display information about the closures for motorists. The HDOT emphasized that all scheduled work depends on weather conditions and may change accordingly.
