Public invited to meeting on Kalaeloa Airport Master Plan update

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced an informational meeting to discuss updates to the Kalaeloa Airport Master Plan and Noise Exposure Map. The event is scheduled for Monday, September 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Honouliuli Middle School Cafeteria located at 91-559 Maunakapu Street.

According to HDOT, “The master plan is the long range planning document used to guide future improvements at Kalaeloa Airport. The NEM graphically depict current and forecasted aircraft noise exposure in and around the airport.”

The department stated that the purpose of the meeting is to gather feedback from community members regarding these planning documents. “The purpose of the meeting is to receive feedback from the community on these planning products to ensure activities at Kalaeloa Airport are aligned with future land use, economic and community considerations,” HDOT said.

Those who require auxiliary aids or services, such as American Sign Language or language interpreters, are encouraged to contact Traci Lum, HDOT Airports Project Manager, at 808-838-8097 or by email. Requests made early have a higher chance of being accommodated. Alternate formats of the notice are available upon request.
