The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) will hold an environmental open house to discuss proposed improvements at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway, Papaloa Road, and Kapaʻa Bypass Road. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Sheraton Kauaʻi Coconut Beach Resort Makai Ballroom in Kapaʻa.

According to HDOT, the purpose of the environmental study is to evaluate potential enhancements for safety and multimodal connectivity, as well as address travel demand and congestion in the area. The study will also consider possible impacts on community, natural, cultural, and historic resources within the project zone.

Attendees at the open house will have an opportunity to provide input on the environmental study and learn about details such as the current status of the project and its timeline. A question-and-answer session will be included as part of the program. The meeting is set to take place in person only.

Those who require auxiliary aid or other accommodations are encouraged to contact [email protected] ahead of time.
