The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced an overnight lane closure on the Hoʻokele Street Exit at its intersection with Maui Veterans Highway (Route 311). This closure is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, and may extend to Wednesday, June 18, if necessary. The purpose of the closure is to facilitate water line work.

The affected area will be the through/right-turn lane on the eastbound direction of the Hoʻokele Street Exit, which leads toward Zippy’s Kahului. The lane will be closed from 9 p.m. on Tuesday until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Should additional time be required, the same closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Wednesday until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.

A map detailing this update can be found at: https://hidot.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Hookele-updated-map-June-9-.pdf

During this period, the left-turn lane will remain open but restricted to left turns only; no right turns or through traffic will be permitted from this lane.

The construction work involves installing a water line for the Family Life Center’s Ohana Hope Village nearby.

Motorists are advised to obey all traffic controls and exercise caution around workers in the area.
