One lane to close on Pi‘ilani Highway near Keonekai Road for shoulder maintenance

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that the makai southbound lane on Pi‘ilani Highway (Route 31), near Keonekai Road, will be closed for shoulder work on Tuesday, January 20. The closure will take place between milepost 5.6 and 5.8 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. One southbound lane will remain open for traffic during this period.

Crews are scheduled to perform maintenance work on the highway shoulder in the affected area.

HDOT is responsible for managing highways, airports, and harbors across Hawaii’s six major islands. The department oversees a statewide network of transportation facilities, working with federal and county agencies to maintain infrastructure and ensure safe mobility for residents and visitors (official website). Water service outage affects Makawao Avenue area due to emergency repairs
