NFIB Hawaii has expressed gratitude to its members for participating in the 2023 state ballot. The outcomes of this ballot will guide the organization’s lobbying efforts at the State Capitol.
Members were asked whether Hawaii should establish a new state agency to manage tourism, with more regulations and increased taxes and fees. The results showed that 77% voted “No,” 16% voted “Yes,” and 7% were undecided.
Another question addressed whether Hawaii should adopt California’s vehicle emission standards for regulating greenhouse gas emissions. Here, 84% of participants voted “No,” while only 10% supported the idea, leaving 6% undecided.
Lastly, members were asked if Hawaii should continue the Medicaid expansion initiated during the COVID-19 public health emergency after the declaration is lifted. In response, 68% opposed continuing the expansion, 19% were in favor, and 13% remained undecided.
These results reflect NFIB Hawaii members’ preferences on key issues facing the state.
