The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced on May 8 that single lane closures will take place along Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500) next week to allow for the installation of traffic signal detectors.
The work is set to occur from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, with specific closures planned for different locations and dates. On Monday, May 11, one lane on East Papa Avenue near its intersection with Puʻunēnē Avenue will be closed while flaggers alternate traffic in the open lane. On Tuesday, May 12, the left turn and through lane on West Papa Avenue near Puʻunēnē Avenue will be closed; traffic will be diverted into the right turn lane and flaggers will assist drivers with turn movements and through travel. On Wednesday, May 13, one southbound through lane on Puʻunēnē Avenue near Kūihelani Highway (Route 380) will close for similar work, but one southbound through lane will remain open.
HDOT is asking motorists to obey all posted traffic controls and drive safely around workers during these periods. All work is weather permitting.
