The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that a lane closure will take place on Haleakalā Highway (Route 377) in Kula for slope and shoulder repair work. The affected section is between Kulalani Drive and ʻĀinakula Road.

Starting Monday, August 18 through Friday, August 22, the southbound lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. During these hours, traffic will alternate using the open lane. A graphic showing the affected area is available at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Kula-slope-graphic-.jpg.

The project involves slope protection, drainage improvements, paving, and installation of curbing. HDOT expects this work to continue until mid-November.

According to HDOT, “The work schedule may change weekly and will be updated in our weekly lane closures list at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/“.

HDOT advises drivers to follow all traffic controls and drive safely around workers.
