The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced changes to the traffic pattern at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway and Kolo Road. Starting Friday, June 13, northbound vehicles will be able to use Kolo Road through the roundabout. However, southbound traffic on Kūhiō Highway will not be able to make a left turn onto Kolo Road. Instead, drivers can take left turns at Hoʻokuʻi Road or Pili Road.

This modification follows the initial closure of access to Kolo Road from Kūhiō Highway on May 5, as part of the ongoing construction of the Kῑlauea Roundabout. The project involves pouring concrete for both the roundabout apron and sidewalk, along with fine grading and paving at the intersection. All scheduled work is subject to weather conditions.

The current traffic arrangement is anticipated to last for three months, with completion of the roundabout expected by December.
