The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced on April 10 that Kamehameha Highway at Waimea Bay will stay fully closed through the night after two large boulders fell from the slope above the highway earlier in the day. Slope assessments are underway to check for further rock fall risk, and for safety reasons, no one is allowed on the highway during this work.
This closure affects traffic as vehicles are being turned around on the Kahuku side at Three Tables and on the Haleʻiwa side at ‘Iliohu Way. The department said updates will be provided as progress continues.
