At Hilo International Airport, HDOT collaborates with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to manage the expected increase in travelers due to the Merrie Monarch festivities. Measures include having technicians ready to address technical issues with screening equipment, additional staff for passenger screenings, and deploying canine units for baggage screening if necessary.
HDOT advises air travelers during this busy period to plan accordingly, whether they are traveling to Hilo or other destinations.
