The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced on May 1 that there will be nighttime single-lane closures at the roundabout on Piʻilani Highway (Route 31) in Kahului, Hawaiʻi. The closures are scheduled so crews can stripe new raised crosswalks on the Wailea side of the roundabout.
This work is set to take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Sunday, May 3 and continuing through Tuesday, May 5. During this period, one lane in each direction will remain open for traffic. The department said the crosswalk remains closed and rapid rectangular flashing beacons are inactive but may be activated if conditions change.
