As part of the ongoing improvements at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be closing Runway 8R-26L nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This closure is scheduled for 20 days, beginning on August 1, 2025, and ending on August 20, 2025.

The purpose of these closures is to perform essential runway paving and drainage work to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration standards. HDOT has coordinated with airlines and partners to minimize flight disruptions during this period. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for specific flight information.

While flights will be redirected to Runways 8L-26R, 4L-26R, and 4R-22L during this time, residents in nearby neighborhoods such as ‘Ewa and Pearl City may experience increased noise levels.

The project is expected to be completed by October 2025. HDOT expresses gratitude for the community’s patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are carried out.
