The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that Kekaulike Avenue in Kula will reopen on April 17, 2025. The section between Waiakoa Road and ʻAlae Road has been closed for repairs since September 2024, following damage from a severe storm in December 2021.

The resurfacing project was completed a month earlier than expected. It involved replacing a damaged box culvert and constructing a gravity retaining wall along with new guardrails.

HDOT expressed gratitude to the public for their patience throughout the eight-month project period.

Photos detailing the completed repairs are available via the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation’s website.
