The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced the availability of free Wi-Fi at Moloka‘i Airport (MKK). This service, provided by Hawaiian Telcom, has been accessible since April 17, 2025, throughout the terminal.

The installation was part of HDOT’s HI Connect pilot project, which focused on enhancing broadband infrastructure in various regions, including Kalihi, Puna, Ka‘ū, Nānākuli, Wai‘anae, Mākaha, and Kapa‘a. The Hawaiian Telcom 1G Fiber network is capable of supporting multiple users for video streaming and downloading.

Senator Lynn DeCoite expressed that air travel is essential for Moloka‘i residents to obtain medical care and other resources. The availability of free internet during flight waits is intended to enhance the efficiency and comfort of essential trips. She acknowledged HDOT’s efforts to connect Moloka‘i Airport.

HDOT Director Ed Sniffen noted that Wi-Fi has been available at larger airports since 2018. The introduction of this service at Moloka‘i Airport reflects the department’s commitment to making cost-effective improvements for local travelers.

Travelers at MKK can now enjoy access to the network during their time at the airport.
