Hāna Highway to close for two hours on April 30 for utility work

The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 23 that both lanes of Hāna Highway (Route 360) in Huelo will be fully closed from 10 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, April 30, to allow Hawaiian Electric Company crews to work on a pole at the Huelo Substation.

The closure will take place at mile post 3.4 and is expected to last two hours. The department said all work is weather permitting and advised drivers to check HDOT’s social media pages for updates or changes.

This planned closure affects a key route managed by the Hawaii Department of Transportation, which oversees facilities including airports for domestic and international carriers, commercial harbors, and a statewide highway system according to the official website. The department operates as part of the executive branch of the State of Hawaii government according to the official website.

Across all six major Hawaiian islands, HDOT manages 11 commercial service airports, four general aviation airports, nine commercial harbors, and maintains about 2,450 lane miles of highways according to the official website.
