The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that a right lane on the H-2 Freeway in the Wahiawā-bound direction will be closed nightly for joint repair work. The closures will start Tuesday night, August 5, and will occur from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night.

The affected section runs from the Mililani Town on-ramp to the Waikalani Drive overpass. HDOT said the repairs are expected to take about two weeks of nightly work.

According to HDOT, “This work will repair the vital expansion joints along the roadway and remove the steel plates that were securing them for safety since May 2024. Materials, contractor and shipping delays have now been resolved, enabling this work to commence.”

Ramps in the area will remain open during construction. Motorists are urged to drive carefully and follow all posted signs in the work zone.

HDOT stated, “Electronic message boards will be posted to notify motorists of closure information. Special duty police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Roadwork is weather permitting.”
