FOIA Request to University of Hawaii Maui College regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Aloha State News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of Hawaii Maui College seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the Fiscal Year 2024. The request was made under the Hawaii Open Records Law § 91-1 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The request specifically asks for comprehensive data concerning all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This includes records or reports containing fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly wage), and employment type (full-time or part-time).

The request acknowledges that not all data fields may be present in every record and asks for all responsive records to be produced regardless. In cases where parts of a record are exempt from disclosure, Aloha State News requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.

As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs and holding public institutions accountable, Aloha State News has requested a fee waiver based on its role in disseminating information to the public. The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
