The County of Maui Department of Finance announced on May 7 that it will hold a real property tax sale on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The event may continue to Wednesday, May 20, if necessary. The auction will include properties that have been delinquent in taxes for three or more years and have received their final notice of tax sale.
The auction is scheduled to take place at the Kīhei Community Center located at 303 E. Līpoa St., Kīhei. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and the auction is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
As of May 7, four properties are listed for sale. These properties can be removed from the list if all outstanding taxes, penalties, interest, and costs are paid in full before the parcel is auctioned.
Each parcel will be offered at an upset price that includes delinquent taxes as well as penalties and costs related to the tax sale. Properties will be sold to the highest bidder who provides a certified or cashier’s check.
Bidders must register and verify funds before the start of the auction. Those bidding on behalf of others must provide notarized documents showing authorization to represent those parties.
Further information about the tax sale—including a list of available properties and frequently asked questions—is available on the County Department of Finance Treasury Division Real Property Tax Collections webpage (www.mauicounty.gov/rpt) under Delinquent Tax Accounts. The list has also been posted at several county locations including Kahului’s County Service Center; Wailuku’s Kalana O Maui building; Hoapili Hale (state Judiciary building); Molokaʻi Real Property Tax Office; and Lānaʻi Senior Center.
