Common Cause Hawaii held a town hall meeting on Tuesday in Honolulu to address issues related to immigration and government accountability. The event, titled “People’s Promise” Town Hall, featured discussions led by local legislators and members of the organization.

“Now more than ever, we must come together in meaningful ways to discuss how we can advance and safeguard our democracy. We are so grateful for everyone who showed up to hear about Common Cause’s initiatives and grapple with consequential conversations,” said Camron Hurt, Common Cause Hawaii State Director.

Speakers at the event included State Rep. Della Au Belatti (D-Makiki, Punchbowl) and State Sen. Brenton Awa (R-Windward Oahu). Panelists discussed topics such as campaign finance reform, automatic voter registration, and the importance of good government reform.

The town hall aimed to educate community members about local issues, provide access to resources, and encourage civic participation.
